The Power of Time in Social Media
Thus far, my graduate school schedule is consumed by courses covering global activism topics and how best we may learn to communicate efficiently between cultures until this semester. The choice to add an elective called Social Media Management caught my eye. It was a subject I had always desired to learn more about, but quite honestly, I was unsure how that may ever come about. We were asked for one of our final projects to curate our social content on our chosen platform. I decided to embark on a subject that I have spent a lot of time separately contemplating, although it may not be unique.
My project through the platform of Instagram earned the name Ukiyo. This is the Japanese word for living in the moment, detached from the bothers of life. The overarching goal of this account was to surpass the conventional photography accounts. By this, I do not mean to be better than other accounts, but different. It is the idea of incorporating a different perspective of many of the most picturesque views I have encountered through my travels worldwide.
Taking this all into account, I spent a significant amount of time in my page’s strategic planning before it had even begun. I desired to curate a space that took time to interweave a common thread among my posts and their overall vibe.
